GLAD Fridays - Cozy TYS Flannel Pants are Permitted

  • On GLAD Fridays students may now wear cozy TYS flannel pants, in lieu of athletic pants, as part of their spirit wear.

  • Students can purchase the cozy TYS flannel pants from The York Shop on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:30am - 12:30pm or parents can complete The York Shop form.

The York School, in partnership with Toronto French School, will host an online author talk with Jeff Selingo. Jeff has written about higher education for more than two decades and is a New York Times bestselling author of three books. His latest book, Who Gets In & Why: A Year Inside College Admissions, was published in September 2020 and was named among the 100 Notable Books of the year by the New York Times. Jeff will dispel the entrenched notions of how to compete and win at the admissions game and reveal why families have much to gain by broadening their notion of what qualifies as a "good" college.

Rainbow Railroad Update

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Rainbow Railroad fundraisers contributed an unprecedented $18 000 between online donations, candy gram sales and the breakfast bake sale!! The York School’s support means that LGBTQI+ individuals experiencing persecution and/or displacement in their home countries will have the opportunity to be relocated to safety, receive financial assistance and access community support.

Thank you to Rainbow Railroad’s CEO, Kimahli Powell, for his inspiring presentation at our assembly on Wednesday and his leadership in championing human rights globally. We hope all students took away his key messages of treating others with dignity, respect and kindness.

December Spirit Week - Monday 18 to Thursday 22

We are excited to end off an incredible term with our annual Holiday Spirit Week!

Students and staff can look forward to daily dress-down theme days as well as fun activities in the mornings and at lunch time.

All week long will be our gingerbread person hunt. Students and staff can look forward to finding  the missing gingerbread people hidden around the school and place them back in their gingerbread house for house points!

As well, our community card station will be open and students are encouraged to send a message of cheer to a staff member or team within The York School as we strive to foster gratitude throughout this season!
