Senior School Uniform Reset

As we reset our focus on the school uniform, we want to emphasize its role in fostering community, belonging, and school pride. Wearing the uniform properly ensures that all students feel a shared connection to The York School. Students should be in running shoes (no boots), grey pants or a skirt, and a York School uniform top. Those not in uniform will receive a uniform infraction, with multiple infractions leading to detentions and further disciplinary consequences. We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations at home to help maintain a strong and unified school community.

STUDENT LIFE AND BELONGING

Lunar New Year Festival - February 4

Next Tuesday, students and staff can look forward to celebrating the Year of the Snake with our lunch-hour Lunar New Year Festival!

Thanks to our Asian Student Alliance, parent volunteers and Ms Zhao’s Mandarin students for hosting interactive stations where students and staff can participate in Jianzi, Chinese yo-yo, Calligraphy, Boba tea sampling and more!

The menu in the cafeteria at lunch will also be Asian-inspired, as chosen by our student leaders.

Students and staff are encouraged to dress in red or their own cultural attire to celebrate this day.

Questions? Please contact Jess Chau, Asian Student Alliance Faculty Advisor (jchau@yorkschool.com)

BLACK HISTORY MONTH - FEBRUARY

Our Belonging & Outreach student leaders are looking forward to celebrating Black History Month throughout the month of February.

On Mondays, we will focus on the theme of Black Resistance throughout Canadian history on our weekly morning show and on February 19, we will welcome Britta Badour, award-winning author, poet and educator to speak at our assembly.
