STUDENT LIFE & BELONGING
Co Curricular Clubs
Encourage your child to review the Senior School Co Curricular Clubs Schedule and the promotional slide deck, found in the Senior School loop. Students should speak to the staff or student leader associated with the club if they have any questions or your homeroom teacher.
CIS Thrive Leadership Conference - Planning (Friday, Oct 13th) and Presentation (Thursday, Nov 30th)
The Thrive Leaders Symposium is an inter-school student leadership event hosted by CIS Ontario. Students participate in seminar discussions on topics relevant to their leadership roles within their home schools, and network with other student leaders to foster collaboration in the future. Students will also be taught hard skills for problem-solving in their own unique leadership environments. This is also an excellent experience to add to the CAS portfolio under Creativity.
Each year, The York School has student representation as both presenters and participants at this conference.
Students who are interested in applying to present at this conference are encouraged to submit an application to Ms Fuss. Applications have been sent out via email.
Questions? Please contact Adina Fuss, Coordinator of Student Leadership (afuss@yorkschool.com)
ORANGE SHIRT day to honour truth & reconciliation
The York School will be honouring National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Friday, September 29th. We encourage families to order their own shirts independently through The Orange Shirt Society, a non-profit organization where Orange Shirt Day began in 2013.
Click here for Official Orange Shirt Society Merchandise Page (Scroll down to bottom of the webpage for list of approved t-shirt providers.)
In the spirit of reconciliation and to stand in solidarity with survivors and all those impacted by residential schools, we will wear orange to honour this day of significance and also engage in divisional assemblies, classroom activities, lessons, and discussions that amplify Indigenous perspectives while educating and promoting awareness about the intergenerational harm that residential schools have caused to Indigenous families and communities.
